Oh, Bristol, my Bristol.
A city that doesn’t try to be tidy or perfect, and that’s exactly the point.
Full of corners, character, colour, and quiet magic.
I love your quirkiness. Never change.

Last Shift (2014). Ooooerr missus. Night shift, empty police station, bad vibes on tap. Cheap? Yep. Effective? Also yep. Jump scares land, dread creeps. Proof you do not need money to ruin your sleep.

Kong: Skull Island. A proper old fashioned romp. Big monkey, loud guns, zero therapy offered. Still holds up when you want spectacle and brain switched off. Sometimes cinema should just stomp and roar.

Right, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest really ties the whole wild ride together. Noomi Rapace turns up again looking like she could end a government with one stare. Honestly, her hair should get its own spin off. It steals scenes. #HornetsNest #NoomiRapace #NordicNoir

Rewatching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and honestly, the 2009 one wipes the floor with that American remake. Noomi Rapace just stomps through the screen. Proper fire. Makes you wonder why Hollywood even tried. #NoomiRapace #DragonTattoo #NordicNoir

Right, Eyes Wide Shut. Two hours of Tom Cruise wandering around New York looking like he’s about to ask for the manager, while his marriage unravels like a dodgy Christmas jumper. Weird, tense, oddly sexy. Kubrick really said good luck sleeping. #EyesWideShut #Kubrick #90sFilm

Watched Strange Harvest 2024 and my nerves are still pacing the room. I’m a sucker for police procedural stuff and this one felt a bit too real. Proper tense. Proper gritty. Might sleep with the light on. #StrangeHarvest #CrimeThriller

Trying these @Tesco Finest roast turkey crisps and honestly… why do they taste like a full Sunday roast in disguise? Thought I’d have one, ended up inhaling half the bag. No regrets, just vibes.

The Ward (2010). Thought I was above cheap shocks but that last jump scare got me. Full body flinch. I’m blaming the lighting, the sound design and my terrible life choices. Decent fun though. #TheWard #HorrorNight #FilmChat

Not sure what to do with Superman 2025. Looks great, shiny as anything, but the story left me blinking like I'd missed a memo. Maybe I just wanted a bit more bite. Or maybe I'm just grumpy again. #Superman2025 #FilmTalk #MovieNight

Final Destination still slaps. Twenty five years on and it’s got me checking behind trucks like a nervous cat. Might have to binge the lot and regret all my life choices by film three.

Searching (2018) had me glued to the screen like I’d forgotten how chairs work. Proper tight story, solid cast, and just enough dread to make you rethink opening your laptop. Weirdly fun, mildly stressful, all good. #Searching #FilmReview #Thriller #JohnCho

Baby Driver left me staring at the screen thinking, fair play, Edgar Wright, but this one just never gets out of first gear. Slick, sure, but hollow. Like ordering a full English and getting one lonely sausage. Still edible. Just sad. #BabyDriver #EdgarWright #FilmChat

Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning is basically Tom Cruise saying goodbye by trying to outrun physics one last time. Big stunts, big noise, big grin from me. Silly, brilliant fun. I’ll miss this madness. #MissionImpossible #FilmTwitter #ActionMovies

Rewatched The Bourne Legacy. Still gritty enough to sand your face off. Renner stomps through it like a man who’s had one too many near-death Mondays. Not perfect, but I’m weirdly fond of it. Blame his brooding.

Everest (2015). Two hours of watching people willingly climb a giant frozen death trap and me sitting there thinking yeah I’d last about six minutes. Still a cracking watch though. Cold, bleak, weirdly comforting.

Right, so I stuck on Masters of the Universe again and honestly it’s still a cracking yarn. Dolph storms around like he’s misplaced his shirt and Skeletor looks like he hasn’t slept since 1973. It’s daft, scruffy fun and I’m weirdly proud of it.

Right, The Lobster. That film feels like someone dared a director to make dating even more traumatic. Utter madness but kind of brilliant. I watched it wondering if I should laugh, wince or move into the woods. Probably all three. #TheLobster #FilmTalk #DarkComedy

That door has more personality than most people I meet before coffee. Old wood, warm colours, plants doing their best to take over. Feels like a place that’s seen stories and still has a few left. Makes you want to step in and start fresh.

Sun-faded walls, open shutters, and laundry drifting in the breeze. Everyday poetry hiding in plain sight. Some views don’t need a filter, just a slower heartbeat. #TravelPhotography #StreetPhotography #EverydayBeauty

Sunlight, cracked walls, and a bit of life spilling out through an open window. Laundry swaying, plants soaking up the day. Nothing staged — just the quiet poetry of the everyday.

There’s a quiet charm in buildings like this — weathered paint, tired shutters, stories in every crack. It wears its age proudly while life hums below. Perfection’s overrated anyway.

Klaus Mäkelä’s new recording of Mahler’s Symphony of a Thousand was captured live in May with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, five choirs & eight soloists. The 18 May concert marked Mahler’s death anniversary, with his granddaughter Marina present.
