It's like they don't understand that I don't want to think about the fact that I rode my bike to have a coffee experience while I am having the coffee. The bike is the tool, not the raison d'etre.

This is what happens when the people who are in charge of your product do not understand why people buy your product. It's like if someone asked me if I wanted a bicycle that could also make a macchiato. Like...no? That's not why I have a bicycle?

God I posted this to the other hellsite and the algorithm is so fucking dominant no one has even seen it. Jesus christ. I wanna go back to Livejournal and the days when the internet was difficult.

Thats not even a home-built LLM, its just paying whatever big tech service is for a custom prompt and RAG. God, how have our tech leaders so quickly made our existing tech utterly useless?

GenZ, you need to get good at non-cloud software so I can finally have products that I own again. I will pay serious money to not rent my software

NYTimes Crosswords, Runkeeper, Strong, JeFit, Macrosfirst, Microsoft Office, Google OneDrive, literally you can't buy an ad-free experience anymore.

I am close to buying a dumb phone and getting off of the internet.

so like if you're a college football coach and you play the Texas A&M Aggies in 2025, you have a 50% chance of being put on the hot seat or fired after our game is done.

Seven Win Sark, we're comin for you

*snorts* excuse me but I am WELL TRAINED

fucking hell exactly this. I can see where value may exist but no one is willing to invest in it. They want those next quarter pure-exploitation returns instead of putting in the time to make the next big thing right. Nothing is built for long term value, only extraction.
