Hi, I’m Jadon (or Jay for short), a self-taught programmer who loves making games & desktop apps. Back from a short break and have been taking a deeper dive into Qt for desktop dev. I'm looking forward to sharing what I’ve been learning on here :)
Quick progress update:
- Cleaned up the menu layout
- Further balanced the theme colors
- Dimensions fields resize the canvas now

Today was much lighter now that school has started up again. Might do progress updates like these more often. Keeps me motivated when days get tough 🔥

Exploring new menu layout ideas for a digital math scratch-sheet app. UI inspiration from @anwashsaleem on X.

Which one feels clearer? 🤔

This month’s project is a digital scratch sheet app for math. The goal is to make working through problems feel as natural as possible without paper (not easy haha)

Today I’ve been experimenting with different file-saving techniques in React, and I’m noticing that browser filesystem access is very limited.

Workflows like loading and saving files without creating duplicates feel pretty convoluted, if they’re possible at all...

A couple months ago my barber cut my hair much lower than planned, so I’ve been rocking this look lately.

It’s been lowkey growing on me 😂

For the past few weeks, I’ve been learning TypeScript, and now I genuinely can’t see why I’d code in JavaScript anymore 😆

It provides:
- Type safety
- Quality-of-life tools
- Better structure for large codebases

Are there any reasons you’d still choose JS over TS?

I made a rhythm game in Qt as a proof of concept!
In this devlog, I discuss the game's core features and development hurdles!

Upload times have been pretty lengthy, but within the next few minutes I’ll be releasing my quick little devlog on my Qt rhythm game 👀

In my rhythm game, Rebirth, I’m introducing Double Tap Notes! Another new mechanic that shakes up the classic rhythm game style:

Tap once to lock the note in place, and tap again when the judgment rectangle matches the note's size to score points!

This one is definitely one of favs :P

Ok, given that I’m still adding a couple finishing touches, instead of rushing to get the video out today, I’ll 100% be posting it tomorrow. I apologize for the wait… Editing is truly a process 😅
It turns out that when I started recording, I was using the wrong settings, so I'll have to redo and edit the majority of my voice clips :(

So, I likely won't be able to release the video today after all, but I'm aiming to have it ready by Friday. Until then, I'll keep y'all posted 👍
Ok I’ve decided to do a devlog on my Qt Rhythm game! So I’m gonna try and finish the video in time to release on Monday. Keeping all fingers crossed 🤞

I’m looking to increase my connections with like-minded developers on here. Bluesky is fun with followers :)

If you work with:

- C++
- Python
- JavaScript
- Qml
- Web design
- UI/UX

Say hi! I hope we can create meaningful #connections together 🔥

I was told that this book will give me a comprehensive understanding of C++.

Now I’m genuinely scared of what I’m about to witness 🗿

Just added a music player to the title screen! The game now picks a random track based on the maps it finds in the tracks folder. Thoughts?

4 More days until the first theme is announced for my #gamejam! We are steadily growing and are just shy of 3 folks - thank you for your shares, reposts and all the love ❤️

We have a very friendly developer community both in general and for the jam itself discord.gg/DMCUgpSZ!

In my rhythm game, Rebirth, Forgotten Notes are a new twist on the rhythm game style. Avoid them at all costs to keep your combo alive❤️‍🔥

Man, it’s crazy how computers just randomly decide that they are done with you 😭

Laptop’s in the shop, and I should have it back in a couple of days now. I’ll be back posting updates about my Qt rhythm game as soon as it’s up and running!

Over the summer, I wanted to try something a little different: building a rhythm game with the Qt library. Instead of static charts, each map uses tokens that shift charting styles mid-play, creating unique maps you won’t find anywhere else!
