Can we leave Franklin out of it?

Saving pitching staffs is also *a* factor.
Mgrs may or may not like the new format, but they hated having to figure out staffs after a long one - especially if it was against a new opponent with fresher pen.
And we were seeing position players earlier in competitive games than previous eras.

We can talk about ulterior motives, but free extra innings ball (which is not a significant expense) wouldn't be high on that list.

FWIW, the 3 other sports have tried to lower length of OT, and each of the others was extremely open that it was about TV windows.

I'd hope for 5-5 with the group as they exist today. With Steph and/or Wemby possibly back as soon as next weekend, ceiling is higher.

Don't know that I've seen that data on player/mgr opinions, but pitcher & BP fatigue was regularly cited as a primary reason by organizations/team principals when the rule was implemented.

If longer windows of free baseball was a factor, I'd pose that it bothered TV partners more than owners.

I don't really think it's that so much managers and GMs hate blowing through their pitching staffs.

Paypal - a service I don't hate - turning all the wrong people into billionaires makes it one of the most damaging companies in human history.

Taking a knee from here on out should be enough.

Also doesn't really seem to work? (with a few exceptions)

Most relievers were originally mediocre/failed starters, so it shouldn't be a surprise when moving them back to SPs yields mediocre/failed results.

Helsey was a starter through age 24 when he fizzled vs AAA bats & got moved to pen.

Aka ... He's having surgery, at a delayed time

Said elsewhere, but my problem here is process vs anything.

Tell me they agreed to a 1 yr/3.5M fully guaranteed deal? Fine - that gives you some insurance for a Coby trade + gives RM a 'prove it' deal in a walk year.

8M is a lot for his production before the mid-2024 (& ongoing) collapse.

Yeah, but TW fills a need with above average play, even if his $ (+ grayson) is an overpay. There isn't a scrap heap purchase you can count on for 2.5+ OF WAR.

Mounty doesn't even have a spot at this moment, and there are a half dozen AAA FAs who can likely match his RHH 1B recent production.

Weird phrasing. He is a development success story.

He's another example of injury volatility associated with drafting HS pitching.
