Day 2 of #ArtAdventCalendar, I think I'll just go through projects I started but never finished.
I always liked the idea of designing my own science museum. I even have a prototype of a puzzle game of sorts that takes place in this. Think "Myst" with more fossils.

This Diplodocus from the Denver Museum is always a goodie.

Starting this #ArtAdventCalendar with probably my first art piece this year, depicting the Big Bang. I was hoping to make a series on each stage of universal development until the formation of Earth, but plans just fell through.

I have a cat treat bowl on my windowsill, and my boy Raja has finally got the message that he gets cookies when I start working.

#Dinovember 27 - Tyrannotitan

I'll be honest- I ran out of ideas here.

The two biggest victims of this are the sloths and scimitar cats. Three or four distinct populations of each are shown, but we aren't given much to distinguish them, not even size differences. We're probably missing out on some major disparities that justify speciation, but it's hard to tell.

I've certainly been singing its praise so far, but I also want to talk about a few changes that may not necessarily make it worse, but are worth knowing before watching, and may affect some people's preference compared to the other two seasons.
The first, regrettably, is Tom Hiddleston as narrator.

The series as a whole does a good job showing the climatic turmoil an Ice Age really is. Every episode shows something wildly out of its element that put the struggles of modern animals into perspective. Even though there isn't as much visible death this season, the stakes here do feel higher.

One of my personal favorite segments was the Terror-bird sequence. Yes, it also focuses on its relationship with the top-predator Smilodon, but since they chose to represent a species MUCH smaller than other documentaries, said relationship feels more satisfying, like it's in its own niche.

Even then, you're left with the at times overwhelming realism of the creature models and animation this time around. Some, like the Flores Stork from episode 2, are so lifelike that I had to watch for a solid minute before I realized I was looking at a rendered animal.

The very first thing everyone notices is the massive technical leap from the already top-of-the-line season one. Framestore provides the best of their fur generators, particle systems, and fluid dynamics here to make perhaps the most convincing mammoth animation put to screen.

So, #PrehistoricPlanet #IceAge is out now, and I finally got to watch all the episodes! While we're all getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner, I'm just going to throw my thoughts out there as an amateur paleontologist / digital artist.
To start, no matter what, I still highly recommend it. Go watch!

#Dinovember Day 26 - Jobaria

I tried to get this one a backdrop, I really did.

#Dinovember Day 24 - Einiosaurus

One of my favorites! It was one of those that opened kid me to how weird dinosaurs could get.

Thank you @tetzoo.bsky.social for your seal of approval! It's nice when the actual experts on these things think you did a good job.

Thanks! It's basically lifted straight from a Hoatzin, but I think it worked well here, too.

#Dinovember Day 22 - Sauropelta

Once again, I had to switch to toon shading to save time. Ankylosaurs are no joke!
At least I'm getting better at it.

#Dinovember Day 20 - Erlikosaurus

If the rendering looks bad, it's because I made the mistake of completely changing what I wanted to do with it at 11pm. When will I learn...

I also found out today that one of the authors of this guy's original description passed away yesterday, so this was oddly timed. Well or poorly is up to you to decide.
