I mean, I'd say half of my characters probably love a Coca Cola in some fashion if that counts!

Thematically, I'd just bring back those Rowntree bursting bugs, because they're sweet with just a bit of splatter!

Just jumping here 1st as big announcement for #HorrorWritersChat - in honour of MG Mason, we're putting together a charity anthology.

Think of it as Are You Afraid of the Dark for grown ups; sleep paralysis demons, invisible illness, aging etc.

To some, Christmas is a time of family and love. But not Scrooge. After the tragic loss of his wife, Christmas became a beacon to grief, and a life long since lost.

Tonight she will return, but will Ebenezer have the strength to confront a painful past in order to save a once promising future?

I know, he was such a gorgeous goof. I think this will always be one of my favourite photos of him though; I was running a bath and he just hopped on the side next to me, looked up at me with those big eyes and instantly started purring as he stared up at me so lovingly

Today is a day for remembering lost pets, so I'd like to honour Merlin. It's been just over a year since he had to go to sleep, but sometimes I can still hear him crying for attention. Only happy when he was resting on me, the world just hasn't quite been the same since I lost my shadow. RIP

Would definitely like to second recommending people check out some MG Mason;
Recently he has published a couple of great old school ghostly shorts that are truly beautiful and unnerving to read.

But he also has an ongoing series (Salmonweird) about a murder mystery in a town of ghosts.

Definitely gives me sitcom vibes like the person who screams in shock which makes the other person scream back in an infinite loop

For promo, I'll stick with ghosts and go with my debut novella, A Survivor's Eye.

Imagine a haunted house but with the ghosts in your thoughts, threatening to take control.

Halloween Countdown Day 2 - A Good Marriage.
A really intriguing premise made into a pretty fine but unexciting thriller as a wife stumbles across evidence revealing that her husband might be a serial killer.
Watchable and well acted, but the kind of film that used to be "wait for it to come on TV"

Halloween Countdown Day 1: Wow what a strong start. I'd always been curious but never invested enough to check it out, but this was superb. A haunting & harrowing character study trapped in an eldritch horror casing.

It's spooky season, so here's a grim little short story to promote!

A mother and son stuck in traffic on the motorway when a thick fog covers the scene, and unseen forces come to claim their prey.

Apparently it's been months since I made a self-promo, so hey!

Here's a free short I did from the POV of a condemned ghost

Going to try and finish this over the weekend. Been reading it as just a huge fan of Bruce, but also helping me process some stuff in my own life.

Jaw vision has me thinking of that one moment in Jaws 3 where you have pov of a diver getting chomped 🤣

A day early, but September's Indie Paperback is a double whammy form the ridiculous talent that is @erynmccee.bsky.social - I've only experienced her horror work, so I'm excited to dive into some dragons!

The first of 2 for this month's indie paperback purchase; an intriguing eco-horror by @anna-orridge.bsky.social - an author I've never tried before, but just the glimpses of her talented I've seen from the weekly HorrorWritersChats has me very excited to dive into this!

Given the theme, I'll share my friendship horror this week!
A Survivor's Eye is the counselling session that follows the slasher film, as friendships are forged as they face the ghosts of their trauma

Decided I wanted to have fun with my TBR pile of doom, so I made a wheel!
Just took it for its first spin and... Guess there's no easing me into this new system!

Thanks for hosting, very fun week!

For metaphorical vampires, I can offer the toxic relationship of a mother who wanted so badly to keep her daughter from harm, that she became the monster herself.
