Just take the typewriter and glasses. If it's only a box and makes the depositor happy and gets visitors excited, accept it. Plenty of museums accept archives without caring if they have the expertise to look after them. At least you're unlikely to cause irreversable damage to the chewed pencils.

As an archivist who runs both exhibitions and teaching, I'm Team Object. It's really difficult to hold people's attention with a flat sea of sepia in handwriting they can't read.

I tried to read it once because it was on the reading list of an academic who sent a lot of students over to the archive. I'm always interested to know what they're teaching about archives, but not, it turns out, interested enough to finish that book.

Oh no. Poor Nora.

Oh yeah, I had my first massage about 18 months ago and now I can't imagine not having them regularly. I had no idea how tense my back and shoulders were until suddenly they weren't/ They're not even Deep Tissue or Thai massages, but they make such a difference.

I mean yes, the difference between an 8 year old and a 15 year old is that six US states would STILL allow the 15 year old to marry.

Suddenly deeply worried about Gloucester cathedral (born 1089, baptised 1100) which is a whole third(?) of a mile from the tidal flood monster that is the River Severn.

I'm not completely against fridges being archives, as long as the photographic negatives and the yoghurts are kept in different archives.

"Let's incorporate the numeral 1s, capital Is and lowercase Ls into the reference numbering system. Surely nobody will ever confuse those three almost-identical vertical lines, especially once san-serif fonts are introduced!"

John Ashdown Hill did a huge amount of research and identified the church where R3 was, and without his work I don't think she'd have persuaded anyone to dig. He got an MBE for his part but in the discovery, but he died in 2018 and can't complain when he is overlooked.

How do you have a black cat *and* such a pristine cream carpet and furniture??

I once asked celebrity chef Tom Kerridge to excuse me please as he and a mate were blocking the way to the ladies' loos.

And people who hate Lydia when that girl did exactly as she was told by her mother. Unfortunately, she had no guidance or sensible input from her father because he had completely checked out of parenting his youngest daughters.

Wear sunscreen every day on your face, neck, and hands, even if it's not sunny.

Spend time with your friends and family. I started to lose people I cared about regularly from my mid-30s.
