I'm not talking about other programs. I'm talking about loans for future physicians. This loan cap sets the stage for exceptionally predatory loans that will price far too many out of medical school when we need more physicians instead of less

For medical school it is. Sure, there are a few state programs < $30k, but that ia the exception to the rule. We have a healthcare crisis that is only going to get worse, especially in rural areas. www.shemmassianconsulting.com/blog/medical...

College towns has learned to price gouge students where housing is tight. Went to med school in early 90s. Roommate and I were charged for full unit: I paid half of $850/ mo for 2 bedroom apt. College rentals are now PER PERSON. My undergrad pays $1300/mont. college rentals often = mortgages

Except the loan cap is set below most in-state tuition rates. You have to figure in cost of living expenses--housing, food, utilities, transportation into the loan package. None are getting cheaper.

It isn't about punishing schools. It's about offering predatory loans to fill the gaps

Sounds about as good of a political strategy as putting Superman on trial.

Then again, President Mark Kelly has a nice ring to it.

The Turkey *accordion hands* I hear it's an awful bird. A truly nasty bird. It's a tradition to pardon it. The little people are telling me, "Sir, please pardon the bird." And maybe I'll pardon the bird, the Turkey, the hurky-durky Thanksgiving bird. Washington, great president, but I'm greater ...
