OK, this is on me. Digging through the code, there's an initial value set which will always override anything set in the editor. Duh-doy.

I asked Google's Gemini, and it seems to think the workaround is... manually switch back to 3D each time (literally hundreds of times). 🙃

I felt like that (still kinda do) and put off making a game for ages. Turns out you just need a bit of persistence and an idea worth exploring. There's a lot of satisfying moments when you figure something out for the first time!
