Look pal, the obsolete cables belong to the man of the house who is convinced they'll be useful someday. I have no control over that. You got me on the pottery and books though

If we're going back in time might as well mention terror birds! They're the coolest

Which is a mirror of colonization, which is a mirror of patriarchy, etc.

We need a system that respects the inherent dignity of all people and makes decisions for the common good.

I promise I try to communicate with everyone about the importance of soil and its microbial denizens, the public does not want to hear about it. At this point my local no-till CSA farms are cheaper than Kroger, but people are resistant to change even if it saves money

Hi, can you please as a representative do something to end Luxottica's monopoly on glasses? Other countries don't have to pay such ridiculous prices to see.

I recently found out you can get a pair of glasses in Japan for like $50. Can our government please end Luxottica's monopoly?

>Me to the PhD student in my program who keeps suggesting an intro GIS course because I mentioned that my three 1st-author papers all contain spatial statistics. My sister in Christ, the papers contain spatial statistics because three blue moons have passed since I took intro GIS

You should ask about how well the administration functions. My PI is great, but our department has issues because administrators are bad at paying GRAs on time and it's now been 2.5 years since hazardous waste was picked up!

True that. My school in rural Michigan only offered math classes up to pre-calc. Wood and metal shop were required, as was a marksmanship/hunting course and an outdoor survival elective. Those off-beat classes have been useful to my career in ecology, but there should be more math/science classes

I'm so confused as to why the administration would be hostile to cancer research. Isn't everyone against cancer??

Uh.... we have pasties? Idk if it's slop but it's easy to throw in the oven for an easy meal. I've also been known to whip up a casserole when folks get hungry at house parties, so that may qualify as "slop"

True, eliminating fossil fuels is a must. I'd also add in that we must change the agricultural system as we need to curb methane emissions and restore more land

Selfishness and shortsightedness, that's why more SUVs are being sold.

Well yes of course, the rice was implied

Lentils are a great source of protein, fiber, and iron for those of us who cannot afford beef!

If you're new to them, just throw a cup into any soup you're making or make them alone in a pot with a 2:1 ratio of water to lentils. Lemon juice and olive oil are my favorite lentil seasonings :)

"Everyone wants a revolution, but nobody wants to do the dishes" - Dorothy Day

Can now be

"Everyone wants sustainability, but nobody wants to remove beef and dairy from their diet"

It feels really good to be in a place where everyone agrees that climate change is real and needs to be urgently addressed. We can skip all of the bs and get straight to discussing solutions. It's a luxury we don't get in Tennessee
