One case for the likely complexity is that BPD is a very heterogenous dx... individual BPD symptoms imply important interpersonal processes, but the symptom profile of any one person with BPD may or may not include these!

Ah I see, interesting. I guess the goals in descending order of urgency are: (1) prevent egregiously bad science, (2) enhance scientific impact, and (3) improve the article quality.

Primarily, whether the (a) aims/hypotheses are reasonable given the literature and (b) methods/results support the conclusion. Secondarily, I focus on the overall article quality (accuracy, clarity, figure efficacy, etc.).
