I LOVE trying new types of puzzles. But, I tend to lose interest in a puzzle after solving a few of a type.
Crosswords aren't like this for me. I've done dozens (hundreds?) and still really enjoy them.

Like regular Sudokus, each value cannot repeat in a row, column or area. But the areas aren't always rectangles, they vary in shape.
This helps each puzzle feel novel.

One interesting learning has been that the backtracking is much more effective when you can recognize a path is invalid early.

The UI is so intuitive that I never needed instructions --unfamiliar rules were instantly inferable from the interface.
