By pure coincidence, I got a great demonstration of using and countering hammer with wellstring
- pop it to eat a bomb
- special strafing to hold space and be ready to rush
- thrown at clumped enemies for high value
- clustered arrows on the ground to punish an enemy stamp

You're *supposed* to want to get in for practice (by doing pickups with other people in your tier of plus server), but some just want the +3 or +2 on their sendou page.
The whole thing has morphed from access to strong players to being in the right circles (or apparently playing the right wep)

Since most people get in by voting, and requires someone already in a server above you to vouch, it's a combination of being good and being likeable/networking
