In hindsight, I think the dash mechanic is me trying to replace jumping with something I like. It's less committal (but not totally non-committal) and you're still grounded while you use it, so both of the things I hate about bmup jumping are gone and you still have an evasive movement option!

Also, some parts of the floor are on fire, either sometimes or all the time depending on how the stage feels. You can dash through the fire to not get hit. This is the only thing dashes are invincible to.

The idea behind the dash is that it's MOSTLY supposed to be a powerful but risk[...]
