1&3 are going to Bristol for a Christmas shopping weekend. They have never been away alone before (they are 18 & 15). They got on the wrong train, though it does go to Bristol at least. I am getting anxious texts every 3 minutes. I am being supremely calm and just reassuring them.

After writing a pretty cross email to the heating repair company a man came to replace a part in my boiler yesterday. I've spent £1200 on repairs since it stopped working after it was serviced on 3rd October. Less than 24 hours later it is refusing to work again.

I sent two grumpy emails last night, which is very unlike me. It takes a lot to get me to the end of my tether.
The first was about the heating which worked fine until it was serviced at the start of October and since then has cost £1200 in repairs but doesn't actually work.

New bed day for child2 today. This thing has been broken for months and the repair folk say it's so old they can no longer maintain it - it was already used when he got it a decade ago. So at some point today, a new one will arrive!

In my sleeping bag in child2's room. Child1 wants to take his siblings out for brunch which is lovely but the house is bloody cold & so I am waiting for the little fan heater to it warm enough for me to want to get out of here and get child2 dressed.

Singing a song live at the wedding paraphernalia works! Trying to build the smallest set of things that will work without spending lots of money or needing a transit van full of shit. This can just plug into the DJ's PA.

My mum's done over 38 years for GirlGuiding. A Queen's Guide, she ran Brownie troupes, was a commissioner, even had her Brownie troupe at her wedding.
Tonight, bc of this decision, she has requested immediate removal of her membership because she stands with ALL women and girls, not just cis ones.

Heating still working but drains now blocked. The drain man has arrived. I've seen things you people wouldn't believe, as Roy Batty once said. Fuck me. Still, he is working the problem with some rods and a high pressure doodah. I hope he ends the day by pushing the whole van into an incinerator.

Every time I go to the supermarket I'm buying a selection box and an advent calendar for the food bank thing. I know people need staples but there's room for some treats too.

I was briefly on the edge of this carer's allowance scandal. When Maria died I took a sabbatical from work, then went back part time and then asked for redundancy so I could focus on being dad. About 5 months after I left 'large telco' they paid me a bonus - not a fortune but over the threshold

The problem with the heating not working is that you have to use the immersion heater and fan heaters. Jeez.
