The best recent Marvel projects for me? Moon Knight. Agatha All Along. But peeps will call me a hater and I'm okay with it. People loved it, more power to them and I'm happy for them. But nope, not for me, sorry. I'll go back to The Incredibles for family-focused hero fare.

My problem with a lot of the newer Marvel movies is that they are obviously made with the fourth wall broken but trying so hard to make it seem like it's not. So much of the movie is made in a way that it feels like they know peeps are watching but acts like it "doesn't know."

Fan-service outta place. Getting worse with every new Marvel movie. The joke force to make The Thing say "it's clobberin' time" at that moment doesn't serve a purpose but OBVIOUS fan-service. Even the CHARACTER didn't wanna say it. It just takes me out of it.

Further on the lack of chemistry/writing. Sue goes into the wall in her car, Reed juat goes "oh my God." But not "SUEEEEEEE". Like my dude, I know my kid's in peril but if my wife sails into the wall at 100kph best believe I'll have some strong emotion in that moment.

Mmmm the movie couldn't figure out if it wanted to me a family movie with action or an action movie about family? Like The Incredibles was a family movie with hero/action context. That's easy. Ionno what this movie was trying to be.

Forced humor in things that just wasn't funny. Overkill on the "are you attached to the surfboard" gag. Nobody was thinking it, but they tried to make it a joke that made it seem like everyone was thinking it. Nope. Gimme a better gag please. "How does looking in a mirror work?"

Ben and Johnny throwing snacks at each other another forced act to try and prove the family is "close" and "aw that's so cute." Yeah, kids can do that. Adults normally don't. Unless they know they're being watched. It's just not natural.

Ben calling Reed "Stretch" is unrealistic. That's your life-long friend and you create a new nickname for them from a new power they gained in their 40s? Nah. More believable to have used ANY other endearment. "Brother." "Bud." Heck, even just "Rich".
