Retired from US/global public/private sector executive positions. Focused now on inequality, immigrants rights, environment, human rights for all. Will those opposing MAGA be determined enough to do whatever it takes? Not much time left. Happily married.💙
Interesting. For some reason I have never pinpointed, when growing up my mind never worked the same as other (normal?) people in my community...Appalachia. But one thing I remember noting when very young is the parallel between how people treated their animals and how they treated their families.

We need new political and economic answers. There are variations on how democracy can work and how economies are crafted to produce more inclusivity. We should be open to learn from others, regardless of political labels, not to copy, but to craft an American solution for our issues.

Suggesting that those of us trying to look past Trump should seriously think about the alternatives. Do we want to go back to the politics before Trump and have just standard Republican/Democrat choices? That was the version of politics and political decisions that led to the rise of Trump.

My view is that it is the blind acceptance of the belief that capitalism is the only viable economic system that has led us down the inevitable path to extreme inequality and supporting political norms. Surprised that some of Mamdani's ideas would appeal to Trump? You shouldn't have been.
