I don’t listen to him a lot, but when I hear him talk, I hear one of my elders in my head calling him “slick.”

I’ve been trying to figure out how to translate that for people under 40 or who weren’t raised by southern Black folks. There’s a connotation there that doesn’t quite carryover for them.

A whole word. Received with thanks. I both disappointed some folks and got disappointed this weekend. Now going to get my ass off my shoulders about the latter because that person made the same choice I did — to not disappoint their own self.

When I got to “whistling” my brain shut down for a few seconds and had to reboot because SIR.

It also made me realize that my folks considered whistling crude, rude, and bad luck to do in the house; so now I find the sound viscerally aggravating.

Went for drinks w/some other grad students. Already knew I shouldn’t be out on a weeknight, but I should’ve immediately left when I mentioned my HS graduation year (1996) & two of them responded by sharing their post 2000 birth years. I told them I was going to report them for age related bullying.

And is it really necessary? I mean, we already swore an oath to uphold the constitution…surely the president has no intention of creating policies and laws that violate that oath and duty…maybe he just wants to make sure we have one more way to hit that AO/AM…
