Connected today with the stunning Saqsaywaman complex, where the Incas believed heart and soul meet. Its original purpose is lost to time, but its presence is overwhelming. Limestone blocks of up to 110 tons were set millennia ago with breathtaking precision. Today, alpacas graze here peacefully.

Cusco was the center of the Inca Empire, and the Temple of the Sun (Qorikancha), built of flawless megalithic masonry dating back 13,000 years, was its heart. On the powerful energy line that threads through all the great Incan sites stands a dark basalt stone said to mark a sealed tunnel /2

Machu Picchu — hidden highland sanctuary where earth and sky meet. At its center stand giant megalithic blocks, carved with a precision beyond the empire that later built around them. Here the Inca story rose and fell in tragedy, yet the stones endure, holding secrets older than recorded history.

My pic came out blurry, but a friend took this one.

Just flew over the Nazca Lines, including the striking Hummingbird. They lie in one of the driest regions on earth, the sun-baked southern desert of Peru, which preserved them. They may have served as ritual pathways, astronomical markers, or offerings to deities connected to water and fertility.

/2 From above, the church blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape, its green-patinated dome looking like a hidden sanctuary from another world, although it‘s right in the heart of Helsinki.

Helsinki’s Rock Church, the Temppeliaukio, was carved directly into bedrock. Its breathtaking copper dome, lined with 12 miles of copper strips, gives the interior an ethereal glow. The disc-shaped roof feels both majestic and otherworldly, especially when the sound of the organ fills the space. /2

Thank you much Ellen, will check it out. Speaking of women‘s creativity… I‘m so looking forward to visiting the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki tomorrow. It has the masterpieces of Finland’s Golden Age, and a large international collection. This is the current exhibition:

Stopped by the Pohjola Building in Helsinki today, a gem of Finnish National Romanticism built in 1901. Its granite façade brims with figures from the Kalevala epic—some kindly, others a bit menacing—all standing guard over the house. Carved bears embody strength, courage, and the Finnish spirit. /2

So precious, I hope Mom was back with a nice meal!

Here‘s my mystery find (enlarged). It‘s just under a quarter inch wide. Gem for a day! 😂

Please send a good thought for my darling Sophie. She’s been unwell the past few days, and the vet appointment later today weighs heavy on me.

Who’s buzzing in the catnip? A queen or a supersized worker bumblebee? She’s at least an inch long, and very dedicated!

Yay, the new patio set is here. Took me forever to find something weatherproof that looks nice and doesn’t feel blocky and heavy.

Just seen on the 🤮 site… Sounds like gov‘t tech masking as something paranormal.

Just came across this cautionary tale along those lines.

Twelve minutes? That’s longer than some of his political personas lasted.

This hits hard. Grieving the loss of a beautiful soul. Wendy had so much to give, so much still to say. Her voice made our world softer and more thoughtful. Everyone whose life she touched knows what a rare spirit she was. Free now, at last. 🕊️

Yes. I knew it the moment I read it, and responded to her from that feeling of knowing.

A beautiful soul. Here‘s her last post, written from her hospice room, I believe.

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert…. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive /2
