Possibly unpopular country music opinion time:

Bomshel deserved way more hits than they got.

Am I curmudgeon for saying I deadass cannot understand a single word Olivia Rodrigo sings?

I know I've argued its lyrics to death, but I still can't figure out for the life of me what the hell Marshmello even DID on "Miles on It" that required a collaborative credit.

Why in the world do I actually recall hearing Ty Herndon's "In Your Face" on radio? That song only charted for two weeks.

SiriusXM prime country is playing “You’ve Got a Way” by Shania Twain. That was a real curve ball.

Should I continue writing my own reviews of every #1 country hit of (insert decade here)? I have both 1990s and 2010s partially finished but I’m debating whether the 90s are too over-covered or where I would even share the results.

Just heard Cyndi Thomson’s “What I Really Meant to Say” on prime country. Great song.

I still can't believe Maren Morris wrote a song with such "OK, boomer" energy as Toby Keith's "Old School".

Was she just paying her dues, or was she trolling him and he took it seriously? Given the narrative of her career, I'd believe either.

1. Mayo is the single most disgusting concoction ever devised. It serves no purpose. Sorry your food is dry, make it better next time. Even a sandwich cut with a knife that had once had mayo on it is instantly ruined

2006-me was stoked to hear Hal Ketchum on radio again, and he did not disappoint.

2026-me still thinks this is a great song. Is it weird that I want to hear Kane Brown cover it?

When I was a kid, my peers hated country and mocked me for it. So I doubled down on country and shunned almost everything else.

Result? I know everything about '90s country, but almost nothing about any other genre of music that existed in the '90s. And I'm STILL playing catch-up.

K.T. Oslin's weird keyboard sound on "Come Next Monday" was due to her accidentally setting her keyboard to "guitar" and choosing to leave it in. She said so on Bob Kingsley once.

I always loved the production of that song and wondered how it was done.

I find it funny that Lee Greenwood’s musical identity has always been “jingoistic” when in reality he just has the one patriotic song everyone knows, and most of his discography is more lecherous. He’s seriously on the same level as T. G. Sheppard in that regard

@countryuniverse.net remember how I was previously discussing "Bob That Head"-tier novelty songs from established artists that bombed at radio?

I think you came up with "Betty's Got a Bass Boat". "My Night To Howl" too.

And of course, "Romeo".

More contemporarily, Thomas Rhett's "Vacation".

Even at the time, Mary Chapin Carpenter choosing to name an album "Time* Sex* Love*" felt incredibly pretentious. And only more so after I found that the asterisks were shorthand for pretentious pseudo-intellectual gobbledygook about time being a gift or something.

Karen Brooks: "Don't say that you love me, I don't want to hear it."

Me: "I love this song already."

Seriously, GREAT deep cut. Love the production and vocals here. She deserved better. Texas Tornados did a great cover, too.

I've said it before:

BR549 going from "Cherokee Boogie" to "Too Lazy to Work, Too Nervous to Steal" within five years is like if someone went from making YouTube Poop to making a feature film.

I love how the Band Perry's current lineup violates both halves of their name. They aren't a band anymore, and only one of them has the last name Perry.

Not that I have anything against most of his current body of work, but just imagine the alternate timeline where Shane McAnally did a whole album of newgrass-country like this.
