Hope it isn't Russia.

The system is so incredibly biased in their favour that they don't generally have to do much of a job to get a conviction.
So good defence lawyers can score some impressive victories.

Turning into another OJ case.

Interesting times in the good old UK.

I didn't expect very much from them. But they've been so much worse than I thought.

Killed Beria and then adopted most of his policy proposals.
Very Soviet.

Well put.

Oh dear!

Partly tactical, partly a shift by former Labour voters to Plaid as the best progressive choice in Wales.

That's what I mainly feel. I can't say Chomsky has ever been in my personal pantheon, but I've seen him in interviews and lectures which are available online and he usually comes across as a good egg.
A gentleman, to use archaic terminology.

I suspect that Chomsky has been tripped by his loathing of liberal *good think*.
It's sad because I don't think he's a bad person, though I also don't think he should have remarried at the age of 85.

It does actually make sense if you consider that a Messiah was expected to fight The Romans so Jesus was defying the role written for him by many of his followers.

There's a tag from the Irish writer AE that we would need to know more about Judas's childhood to understand why he betrayed Jesus.
It often gets quoted by Freudians.
December 17, 2025 at 12:18 PM
That would remove the stench now clinging to them.

The hills are alive with the sound of choo - choos...
December 17, 2025 at 10:54 AM
I don't know whether you can actually die of cringe but...
December 17, 2025 at 10:53 AM
My guess.
We don't actually know much about Judas so he's been conflated with the little known disciple Simon The Zealot (so called to distinguish him from Simon Peter) to give him some sort of backstory.

A true American icon.
December 17, 2025 at 10:39 AM
Yeah.
The Right hate him because they're evil bastards and the Left hate him because he panders to the Right.
December 17, 2025 at 10:35 AM
Yep. He was among those who opened the gates to the barbarians.
But then he's always been a nitwit.

The argument of Anthony Kaldellis that The Byzantine Empire was really a nation state could probably be extended to the late Roman Empire.

Good old Sabaton!

The kind of crazy thing you can only get away with once.
