I used to do the same, but as far as I can tell, the Dilithium to Zen exchange has been turned off for a couple years now - at least on PC - unless I'm doing something wrong.

I am pretty much certain there's planned dialogue for that opening cutscene that wasn't included in the demo, either because it wasn't ready, or hadn't yet been recorded. Everyone I've seen try to read it in a let's play format has had the same problem!
