thinking about this patch from the Chicago leather museum and how badly I want to earn one
a patch embroidery of a black wolf's head, with a centered transgender symbol, on a yellow circle lined with black. placard underneath reads "La Fraternité du Loup-Garou is a leather club for trans men, transmasculine people, and their supporters. Since 2005, La Garou has hosted an annual camping event called CampOUT. Other trans leather clubs include the Twin Cities Sirens and T-Rexx in Minnesota."

I howled, just once and low, not for sorrow, but to join the chorus already going on without me. A wren answered. The cedar leaned closer. And I, made of fur and salt …and breath, I was fed, seen, and known. Somewhere—still far— a lamb watches the gate. But here, right here, the Shepherd’s hand is moss …and lichen and sky. I lay down beside the stone. I do not wish to die. Not now, no… not just yet —But simply to wait. Not to rise, nor to witness, but to become, in this exalted creaturely state. To be held …at last.

They are a unique subspecies of wolf due to their semi-aquatic lifestyle, which includes a diet that is almost entirely marine-based. One of the defining features of this subspecies is their movements between islands, in some cases swimming up to 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) between landmasses. These movements are sometimes seasonal, including following the migration of salmon, one of their preferred food sources. Along the coast, they will forage for barnacles, clams, mussels, and crabs, digging into the sand with their paws and using powerful jaw muscles to break open shells. My piece for NUZ: Zine One 🌕☁️
A greyscale illustration of four animals; a unicorn, coyote, wolf, and werewolf. The figures float against a white background, the wolf, were, and coyote are bursting and seeping from the unicorn's spine, who cranes her head down toward her outstretched hoof. The coyote and wolf are positioned between the unicorn and the werewolf's large form, the were has one fore submerged in the unicorns back, and its other sits hovering near the wolf as if it were about to loop it around the wolf and hold it close. The wolf has its head turned up almost sitting in the crook of the werewolf's shoulder and neck. Its paws float relaxed. The coyote emerges from the unicorn below the wolf, its upper body curves to follow the slope of the unicorns neck, and the silhouettes of it its hinds can be seen spouting from the belly of the unicorn. Its forepaws steady itself on her neck, one paw tangled in the unicorn's flowing mane. It wears a radio collar. The wolf, were, and unicorn all hold their relaxed heads either upwards or down, their eyes are closed. The coyote, who looks poised to pull itself out of the unicorn entirely, has its eyes open, and its lowered head looks forward, it meets the viewers gaze knowingly and directly.
