Without spoiling too much, this is my favorite lead character, whereas the other two felt more Blanc heavy, though I love Monáe’s Helen a lot.

It was different but the same. Both serious and hilarious. I think it might end up my favorite the longer I sit with it

Yay! I love to blab so I’m glad I did :) The nice thing is it’s worth a try cuz unless you delete your account after you cancel, all your old stuff is still there if you want to go back for some reason

It shouldn’t be! Sometimes I get a suggested row that is music related, but music is a separate tab on the TV. Usually only pops up for artists I’m subscribed to. I watch a lot of YT and my TV algo is maintained.

I think I’ve had it for 3-4 years? And it’s got a pretty good idea of what I like. One of my fave bands is from a suggestion, I’d heard one song on Spotify years ago but on YTM I fell al the way down :)

It also has albums and such like Spotify, just with access to all the YouTube library. It really is a music app. I canceled Spotify when I realized I kept listening to soundtracks, acoustic versions, or performances that weren’t on Spotify as official releases.

Use the YouTube Music app! You can save those videos to playlists and it will treat them like songs and you can toggle to watch the video, but on the regular YouTube app, everything will be normal. Two separate algos, with occasional overlap on like the TV app or saving to playlists.

I thought about getting an mp3 player for a while, but all the ones I was looking at seemed ugly, shitty, expensive, or convoluted. I decided on an iPod Classic cuz I could mod/repair in the future if needed, it’s simple, cool, and familiar, and no touch screen. Wanted no drama haha

I got it to use outside of the house at school in my studio or the labs when im working! It’s now my main music device anywhere since it’s half the size of a phone. I have a usb dvd player that rips cds, + download stuff for free off SoundCloud or YT, + buy indie stuff on iTunes.

I ditched Spotify a few years back and just used YT music which I had with Premium. There really wasn’t anything wrong with it other than I get real distracted and I’ve found more cool new music on TikTok recently than anything, but am fairly content following my faves new releases.

Sorry for blabbing haha, but it was like riding a bike. I forgot it was the thing I’d done for much longer. I don’t mind being tethered to the device either since it’s so tiny and just tunes :) I know some folks use a Bluetooth adapter but I didn’t want that, at least not now
November 27, 2025 at 3:07 AM
And the music actually sounds better so I’m excited to use them! Nice backup too for my computer when my bluetooths die/wont connect. I use BT for everything else, and if I really need to, then I’ll listen on my phone with BT.

I also thought this, but wired just for my iPod has been totally fine. Doesn’t get in my way much, and if I really am moving about, I put it on my ihome. I tuck it in my apron or shacket pocket, maybe loop it behind my head if it’s dangling.

Omg I’m having a blast you should load it uppppp. I find the ritual of downloading music be it from online, cd, or wherever very therapeutic. Mindfulness haha

Idk I also feel like making art so much and reading about it and making objects makes me want to be connected to things in my life like relics or something
November 27, 2025 at 1:29 AM
I even found a brand new ihome at the thrift and it sounds amazing. But really unplugged a bit and damn excellent for the brain. Also I realized I basically just listen to the same collection of albums 90% of the time anyhow.
November 27, 2025 at 1:29 AM
Also got into physical media like records and CDs for my favorite albums of all time, and actually buying music that I adore.

I foolishly was using fiber reactive dyes for this process at first, ending up with the reverse of what I wanted, ignoring the traditional roots of indigo for adire because I didn’t realize I could do it fairly easily. But damn it’s so magnificent
November 27, 2025 at 12:32 AM
the thing about me that made me make my thesis a bunch of processes I’ve never done before is hilarious. Never screenprinted, never dyed fabric, never done resist dye, never done adire…but here we are

If you want to see what I mean it’s on my ig and TikTok lmaoooo
