This game ruled! I never really got far into the story, but the simulator mode where you could just do dogfights against a huge variety of TOS era ships wasted so many hours for me.

Narrative is at least a complete thing unto itself. Twilight Axis is, what, basically a 30 minute promo video for some light novels? Light novels I cannot read legally?

...And yeah a lot of that is Tomino being Tomino, but a lot of it also feels like a production staff that never quite got things past the rough cut stage.

I'm glad I did watch it again, with a broader understanding of Tomino's ouvre, but it's hard not to view it as a failure - a failure of communication, a failure on some levels of production, even a scene-to-scene failure of pacing and plotting. Cuts are jarring, musical cues are weird...

Brain Power'd (1998): OK so technically I started re-watching this a year ago, but then something happened and I dropped it like it was hot. Finally decided to pick it back up and finish my rewatch and... there's so much to like, but almost exactly as much to dislike.
