Agreed. Shock value alone was not enough to justify it. Plus we hardly knew who the character was, it having been so long since we saw them (plus new actor)

So much this! The AI Cthulhu as some all powerful background bad, while the political machinations (pun intended) of the UFP, XBs, Romulans & Soong-type droids was bartered out on board the Artefact would have been exquisite

I am not over Hugh's death it was such a sad end to his character and I really think he had more story in him. Icheb... well I didn't mind that he was killed off, but I thought we deserved a scene where he was kidnapped from his Starfleet assignment.

Admiral Picard, the XBs, Hugh, the Artefact, Seven, the Romulans, the mythology, the politics, Soji, Elnor, Raffi, Narek, Jurati, Rios, La Sirena, The Holograms, Laris & Zhaban. So much was amazing about Picard S1. It could have gone for 30 eps. exploring the Artefact/Borg/Romulans alone
