There’s a lot to be said that Toronto took off when Vlad Jr. signed, and the Nats took off when Harper left. Need that distraction out the door.

Yep, they clearly didn’t care if they dragged the team down waiting for their asking price to be met. Although devaluing your product certainly doesn’t help long term either.

Yep. And in a way winning the 2019 WS seemed to satisfy their bucket list and then decided they didn’t need to do it again. Team was hell bent on winning before, and now barely cares to finish .500.

Yep, and the guys who turned out decent in the Soto deal are already on the block. Difference between 2012 and now is at least the Nationals spent money to bolster the young lineup. Now they seem committed to pushing the reset button. Again.

That’s the thing about rebuilds. It’s easy to start. Not easy to get out of it.
