#squirreloftheday is a teenage Douglas squirrel. They are small but mighty.

#squirreloftheday is an adorable baby California ground squirrel eating a grape. She was extremely thin upon intake so center staff gave her some fruit to snack on while I drove to pick her up. She made a full recovery and was released.

Today’s #squirreloftheday (okay I’m a tad late) is a baby flying squirrel. How she looks is how I feel. She was a patient in care a few years ago who came in with head trauma.

Immense grief. That’s what I was experiencing today. Fear, and anger, and sorrow, and anguish… resentment and horror and resounding loss.

So here’s some of nature’s beauty which is always an example of resilience despite all the seasons of life and death and everything in between.

Today’s #squirreloftheday includes a bonus squirrel because of how difficult the day has been. Don’t be fooled by the silly look, he is now a sassy teen who keeps me on my toes. He and his brother survived against all odds; he had severe head trauma and his brother had a liver condition.
