I can't remember ever being this internally disgusted at Helvetica before. :( The lowercase As look odd to me though so maybe these were AI generated. I guess it really is the typeface of fascism.

I mean everyone has strong opinions about fonts; why are you looking at me like that lol

It's hard to see but I put some clear nail polish on the exposed parts to replace the solder mask because I don't have any of that.

Letting it dry!
February 11, 2026 at 1:56 AM
I THINK I FOUND IT
February 11, 2026 at 1:30 AM
So inside that circle, the dot is the negative pin of the capacitor and connected to the ground plane. The positive leg follows the track I've drawn but also connects to the ground??! Ope..
February 10, 2026 at 4:43 AM
I pulled out one of the capacitors because both sides seemed to be connected to ground and the capacitor seems fine but I think I need to check all the traces connected to that. Both pads are connected to ground.
February 10, 2026 at 3:18 AM
Well... I have this.. it's 5V.. 100mA instead of 250mA lol hm I should check for a short though
February 10, 2026 at 2:35 AM
Oh nevermind CRAP hmmmmm
February 10, 2026 at 2:19 AM
Nada. Help. L
February 10, 2026 at 2:00 AM
Apparently breakout cords can be barely plugged in okay jeeeeezzzz
February 10, 2026 at 1:58 AM
I'm sorry what why why is this all the voltage
February 10, 2026 at 1:55 AM
So here's this disaster piece with the socket installed and the "trace repair" ughggg
February 10, 2026 at 1:38 AM
Now you tell me! Lol. I bolted in two modules just to see them in the rack and I was like "Are these nuts really the best solution they came up with?!" the entiiiiiiiire time
February 7, 2026 at 1:05 AM
And so, all that is left is to read the instructions and eat some pizza! Yay! Thank you! Bye bye!
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
And all that is left is to turn the screws until it tells me its deepest, darkest

Ah, I'm being told this is only torture for you reading this, and the calculator in fact does not mind. Lol
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
This one appears to be up to my best judgement and aesthetic senses. It would be nice if the sponge pad had adhesive on it ..
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
I think we're good...!
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
I am preparing these with solder, that's generally what I do for soldering to awkward things. I'll just heat the solder and stick the wires in before it solidifies, and I dare it to make a mockery of us!
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
Now to solder those wires to the tabs without melting or breaking anything eh heh
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
That wasn't bad, the case should align the buttons. Now we gotta build the battery box.
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
Now begins the arts and crafts part lol

Well I'm glad I don't need the parts list any more

I turned my fan off too
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
Holy cra I mean perfect every time! The digit display is actually correct, my phone camera just sees the multiplexing of the segments, capturing only which segments are on when the "shutter" is open.

Woot
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
Well, it looks better than expected lol. I think I can power on test before I build the case.

Some of these pins look *crusty...*
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
Wait Lily! What is "drag soldering?"

Well you see, I'm wearing an evening gown and false eyelashes..
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
Okay I'm gonna try this.

I washed the pads in alcohol, and I've put flux on them. I primed one with a teeny amount of solder. Hopefully(!) this will hold the chip in place "good enough" for me to drag solder the rest.
February 2, 2026 at 1:44 AM
I think that looks passible!

Looks like there's only one piece left, though...
