Some days call for a black tea that doesn’t ask questions.

Mount Kenya from Mark T Wendell is sturdy, honest, and unapologetically bold. Earthy, malty, lightly citrusy, with a brisk edge and woody finish. Full bodied, clean, and energizing.

Burns Night isn’t just about whisky and bravado. After the haggis, toasts, and poetry, tea quietly takes its place.

In Burns’ time, tea belonged to the hearth. Whisky honored the fire. Tea honored the coorie. Every good Burns Night needs both.

The Whistling Kettle

As a CTC black tea into is smooth, clean, and easy to drink with no harsh edges. That said, the malty depth in an Irish Breakfast feels muted. A solid, no fuss decaf option, just more reserved than bold.

Happy Friday tea friends!

I woke up in a puerh frame of mind and reached for Red Velvet Chocolate Puerh from Plum Deluxe.

Deep, earthy puerh softened by cocoa warmth and a whisper of dessert like comfort. It’s rich without being heavy, cozy without being cloying.

So what’s in your cup today?

We talk a lot about origin, ethics, and sustainability in tea. We talk far less about decaffeination methods. For decaf drinkers, that missing step matters.

Tea is quiet, but its history is not.

Behind every cup are smugglers, empires, monks, warriors, accidents, and rebellion. Leaves that crossed oceans, sparked wars, and shaped cultures now rest calmly in our mugs.

You’re tasting centuries in a single sip.
