I'm in an Alaskan harvesters group mostly for educational reasons, so I never post anything, except when one specific elder gives an update about how he's doing and what he's been harvesting. Wishing him well is literally my only contribution to the group lmao

Ironic that I'm seeing this soon after finding out that the Mendenhall Glacier is no longer touching Mendenhall Lake because of how far it's receded.
TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Birthday weekend was spent in Seattle for work, but I was also able to see the ocean for the first time and see Wardruna ON my birthday. Not a bad weekend at all.

The world is a shitshow, local politics is a shitshow, but a bunch of kids were happy to see me today and a mom was grateful for me letting her and her kid hang out late while they waited for a flight and sometimes things are ok
