I often have the same thought. 😢

So our community is not in a great place right now.

Please look after yourselves - and those around you. None of us is truly alone, even when it really feels like it.

The UK is also of particular concern as the number of suicide cases being reported there is also growing.

While that may partly be due to increased visibility, we know for a fact that the actions of the UK Supreme Court, government and NHS are causing ongoing harm to our UK community.

Reported cases of fatal violence against #trans people in the US are also down - but we think this is due to erasure in reporting rather than a reduction in violence as the environment in the US is becoming more and more hostile for trans people.

This year case research has been made harder by changes made to Facebook search, which prior to this was usually the quickest way to check for cases unreported by the media.

The number of cases in Brazil is also down, apparently reflecting trends in murder statistics in that nation.

Please say their names, read their stories and remember them.

As in previous years the majority are either the result of crimes of violence or suicide.

A special thank you to everyone who has written in to report the death of a friend or loved one, or to give more details they found about a case.

Anytime.

Honestly, given that I seem to be able to cope with doing this it's the least I can do.

I'm currently waiting on TGEU publishing their official list before adding any missing cases and adding the relevant downloads to the site.

If past years are anything to go by that should happen any day now, but in the meantime provisional info can be downloaded from the "Reports" page.

4. Lia was a model student—proof that when trans people are allowed to live authentically, the benefits ripple outward. Lia double-majored in comp sci/stats, played in the Chess and Japanese clubs, and competed on the women’s swimming/diving team until she left, citing pressure and isolation.

3. While we may never know the exact reasons she took her own life, her death came amid a wave of Republican attacks on transgender student athletes and sweeping Trump administration restrictions on transgender people across nearly every aspect of life.

2. In the days that followed, a clearer picture of her life emerged: she was a passionate advocate for transgender rights, a devoted teammate before leaving athletics in the 2023-2024 season, and someone who, like so many visible trans people today, faced relentless hostility.

The investigation into her death commenced on 11 Nov 2024 and her funeral took place in Suffolk on 29 Nov 2024.

The coroner found that the waiting time for appointments at the GIC could lead to further deaths.
