Khadro knew she wanted to become a pediatric surgeon, but as the first in her family to go to college, she knew she’d have to navigate a lot on her own.

Our staff had the opportunity to volunteer at @foodbankrockies.bsky.social‬, a nonprofit that’s been providing meals throughout our community since 1978.

The care and coordination that happens behind the scenes to get upwards of 185,000 meals out the door daily is inspiring.

Strengthening Neighborhoods started as a pilot program in 1996 in response to community input on the need to invest in neighborhood and community groups. Today, the program has awarded more than $9.6 million to 1,100+ grantees.
