I've tried some "tube rolling" experiments with the Schiit Vali. I think there is basically no audible difference. I'm no EE, but my understanding is with hybrid amps the tube is only for voltage gain, not current gain, which actually moves the headphone drivers. But there IS a gain difference.

This is getting very bubbly. This kind of thing tends to come down hard.

This EQ should result in this graph. About as good as I could do.

And then Parametric EQ with Sound Source. This of course sounds even better and just about nails Harmon, with a 2 dB bass boost.

Sony Sound Connect App EQ is 10 band and no pre-amp, but this is where I ended up with a lot of time on Squiglink.

This is close to Harmon 2018 over-head, but that asked for -6 dB at 31 and 63, I went with -4 dB.

While this is absolutely not surprising. It's nice to see confirmation of what everyone suspected. Dude was high AF.

I hadn't put my finger on it until now. Comparing AI spending to the 90s telecom buildout that left us with tons of fiber to build the modern internet. The AI equivalent is trained models that can be used via distillation to create future models.

Clinton won the popular vote by over 2% in 2016. Trump won the popular vote by under 1.5% in 2024. Remember that when you hear anyone talk about a mandate.

WSJ had a good analysis of the miss-information issue. But also both sides this particular exchange, but in the context of the article it’s easy to see Trumps comments as the miss-info they are. So IMO better than the NYT handling of it.

This kind of reporting from the New York Times drives me crazy. They could have easily called out that Trumps claim is nonsense. Instead they just both sides it by publishing Newsom’s response. I don’t understand why they still think this is how journalism should be done.
