Friday, 27 people died in tornados that went unwarned or late warned. Sirens could’ve sounded sooner.
But while the worst tornados of the season were raging, the weather service didn’t have a severe forecaster readily available at the nearest office. The reason? Unconstitutional DOGE layoffs.

To this day, one of the most disturbing acts I’ve ever known is the theater full of families in Mariupol, Ukraine. After seeing a giant warning written in Russian spelling “CHILDREN,” Russian military officials leveled it, anyhow.
