I actually think Loretta Smith might be the only Gen Xer on the Council. And she’s kinda cutting it close.

I was just talking about this earlier, lol. They’re MIA! I think they’re significantly underrepresented on our City Council too (bunch of millennials)

I get the instinct to primary Merkley (he’s pretty cool but not helping us beat the gerontocracy allegations). But I don’t think we have good contenders for it. And I am struggling to imagine one even a decade out. Maybe Dexter runs for Senate and someone from the state leg emerges as Portland rep.

It would be interesting to look back at the RCV results last year to see patterns that could reemerge next election. Zimmerman and Arnold were neck and neck, which also factors in. I also don’t think it’s a given that there will be an effective “don’t rank Green” campaign. But we’ll see!

Maybe, but I think the idea is Green’s supporters would be unlikely to rank Zimm, Clark, or Arnold anyway, so his candidacy wouldn’t make much of a difference to Green but could impact the others. (Same would apply vice versa if another candidate further to the left entered the race.)

I appreciate the accountability. Upon further investigation, things are definitely thinning up top. I’ll be keeping a close eye on his hairline going forward.

Right, though it’s my understanding that official votes are not supposed to take place during private executive sessions. But with the exception of Councilor Kanal, none of the councilors have gone public with their thoughts on the situation.

Not defending Keith but as a Portland reporter I have to fact check this bald claim. He is the latest in a long, long line of silver haired mayors in Portland

This story makes clear that at the end of the day, everything in society can be traced back to the Hawthorne Pave and Paint project.
