“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring — it was peace.”

Seeing some pictures makes my heart sink and yearn for earlier days, or smile in memory of the time we had with others.

I love seeing pictures of our families together in happier times.

Beautiful tree! Love the theme!

For ours, we try to do a "Christmas of Memories" with custom ornaments each year. We celebrate family and friends, both alive and no longer with us, and the memories we shared with them over the years.

It's a beautiful concept, but a little heart-wrenching.

I don't think Sai King was especially tied to the gender of Maturin and that North Central Positronics gave one whit about pronouns.

It wouldn't surprise me if the poem were a misnomer as people aren't especially adept at discerning gender in others.

(forgive the obscenity by Sai King)

Reading old stories about Krampus and Yuletide Cat were always dark holiday reading for me.

I truly had no idea what I was in for when a good friend recommended Babadook to me. I seriously need to check DoesTheDogDie before watching any movie, I had to stop the movie and pause during that scene.

— Stephen King, The Dark Tower

NOTE: and yes, Terry Pratchett also wrote the same turtle in Discworld, but the poem is from Stephen King in The Dark Tower as the Ka'tet encounter the Beam of the Turtle.

So they didn't do it because then a political rival could be invalidated by the current power and thus politically oppressed. The electoral college was supposed to be the mechanism that saved the people from themselves - and it worked the opposite.
