For profit media should bear a deal of taxation akin to sin taxes for alcohol and cigarettes. Same is true for advertising & gambling also. We need a national sales tax for for profit services that serve no significant public good. Anything promoting lies, addiction, hate is ripe for 2x taxation.

We have “used” various forms of technology for a long time so that is not particularly controversial. Substituting human direction of the technology is what is very controversial.
