Progress! Got the side frames propped up so I can see how far apart to place the cross slats. The placement in the picture is a little wonky but I'm ready to start gluing.

Then tomorrow I'll add a few screws for additional support, cut off the overhang and it'll be ready to paint!

Well, I'm honestly surprised this worked so well. I'm confident in my ability to craft, but I thought getting accurate angled cuts was going to be harder with my odd setup. Its slow setting up each angle but im flying through it now.

Ah heck, why not, figure I'll share my upcoming sculpture mockup!

This bad boy Llama will be about 5ft tall. Made a stick mockup first, then made it a blender model to get measurements and then drew the final concept with the rainbow crossbars. See alts for more info!

A miniature stick mockup of a 3D low-poly themed abstract llama sculpture. Form was originally inspired by old low-poly video game graphics, and origami! A snapshot of my attempt to turn this into a 3D model via Blender. This was the second variation that I ended up scrapping for a simpler form that would be easier to build at my current woodworking skill level. Love the curvature of this model, but given my budget and limited tools, the angled cuts required for this model are too complex. I was however able to use a variation of this model to become a blueprint for measurements! Final concept sketch of this sculpture! Due to having to restrict my budget, I had to rework my design to use materials I could afford. So since large flat sheets of wood or other materials for the sides were too much, I simplified my concept to work with 1x2s, and I loved the result. Hoping my idea to light this one up with some LED lights internally works as I envision, as that will play into the deeper concept of this piece. I still need time to work on my artistic statement, but the gist of it is that this sculpture is secretly a representation of my internal struggles with ADHD burnout throughout my adult life, as well as my attempt to conquer it and reignite my passions (when lit at night). Not easy for me to put that in words, but I hope to flesh that out by the time this is ready :)

Neglecting drawing again to work on my abstract sculpture a bit more today. It's finally taking shape with the rope in place and I can share a WIP. Really glad I tested out a few ideas on this one before I work on my other concept, but excited to try this on and sculpt a humanoid form.
