finished today: A Fever in the Heartland by Timothy Egan. i found it difficult to not draw comparisons to America today. like, there's this orange man that could be Stephenson reincarnated
December 12, 2025 at 5:14 PM
finished late last night: Rubyfruit Jungle by Rita Mae Brown. overall a decent story but problematic language that doesn't age well. i have mixed feelings about this one #booksky

sometimes, reading one star reviews of books is both entertaining and concerning. the book i found these review on is James Baldwin's The Fire Next Time, which is roughly 100 pages long and contains one letter to his nephew and one essay. It was published in 1963 #booksky

finished today: Murderland by Caroline Fraser. at the end of the day, it's just ANOTHER book mostly about Ted Bundy. hits on several other serial killers in the PNW, the author's life, and pollution in the PNW. last book needed for the goodreads fall reading challenge
December 6, 2025 at 4:05 PM
finished yesterday: Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. graphic novel memoir of childhood and coming of age in Tehran during the Islamic Revolution. tough read in spots but well worth it. also last book needed to finish the 2025 Read Harder challenge #booksky
December 6, 2025 at 4:00 PM
finished back on 12/3: Gwen & Art Are Not in Love by Lex Croucher. YA rom com. not my normal fare but cute and enjoyable

finished today: Seascraper by Benjamin Wood. i really enjoyed this novella about a young man has physically demanding slow job and few outlooks but dreams of something different. seems bleak but ended with a bit of hope #booksky
November 26, 2025 at 2:48 AM
finished today: Unruly, A History of England's Kings and Queens by David Mitchell. i dunno which i liked better, the actual history presented here or Mitchell's, occasional off topic, rants. either way, do recommend #booksky
November 24, 2025 at 1:52 AM
finished and currently reading. it's time to start winding down the number of books i have in the works. try to wrap it all up before the end of the year #booksky
November 23, 2025 at 5:06 PM
finished today: Fuzz, When Nature Breaks the Law by Mary Roach. interesting look at the solutions to "problem wildlife." while still humorous, it tends to take a backseat to the serious discussion about how to handle these plants and animals in a manner that isn't cruel. the answer isn't simple
