Why no Iroas? Well, anyone who nabbed the secret lair already got their copy (well, Freya)? Anything we missed? Personally, I just think this deck looks a blast (and I've got a soft spot for Jeskai anyway...). Anyway love your thoughts on the card choices (for the deck or finance shenanigans).

1. Purphorous, Bronze Blooded is an auto include. He sneaks the other Gods into play, gives everything haste and triggers Kratos. From the #mtgfinance side: there's 1 printing of him, and supply's dwindling but he's still relatively cheap for the low supply.

2. Sage of Hours: the moment you get to 5 XP and resolve Kratos with Sage you get infinite turns and win! Sage only has 1 printing and that was long enough ago that supply's dwindling. Maybe this should be number 1? Does seem silly here (or with bant +1/+1s)?

3. Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might is the perfect Godly partner for Kratos & Atreus: pop all Kratos’s counters on him then ping with Atreus for the insta-win? Already a chunky price though so maybe difficult for it to do a lot of $ growth? But essential for the deck?

4. Not quite from the heavens… But: even better with Kratos for your EDH table: Bloodthirster. All 4 players still at the table? That’s A LOT of extra XP for Kratos and Atreus to use. Difficult to reprint cause its in 40k, so probs not going down in price.

5. Every God needs their angelic host right? And Kratos’s and Atreus's feels like it has to be Aurelia the Warleader: While you’re sneaking Gods in with Ilharg, why not also sneak in some extra attack steps (and extra free Gods and extra XP) with Aurelia?

Right, onto the good ones: 6. Ilharg the Raze-Boar is perfect for this deck. This MASSIVE boar is a god AND it lets you play other Gods attacking for free (lots of Kratos XP). The only reason its so far down the list is that it has a few different printings.

7. Alrund - finds you all the other Gods. With only the (thematically on point) Kaldheim printing, he’s probably not getting more supply soon because a new set would need some very specific mechanics combinations. But maybe he's a bargain cause he’s not great?

8. Beautifully synergising with number 1 and 9 on our list (or ready to find with Atreus), God Eternal Oketra is a great fit for the deck but with a recent copy in Aetherdrift commander, there’s lots of supply out there so I’m not sure it’ll spike from Kratos.

9. Cute little Arthur may not himself be some sort of God of mice, but he'll find you lots of other Gods. With the recent Amazon product dump of Bloomburrow precons (amzn.to/3VZ4hGA) it may not be the right time for him to price spike (there’s going to be lots of Arthurs scampering around out there)

10. Casting lots of legendary Gods? Surtr, Fiery Jotun from Assassins Creed just has the one printing and gives you lots of free removal. It’s so low on the list because I personally think its just a bit underwhelming for 5 mana and probably has better homes?

I've popped in some affiliate links through the thread. If you think what we're doing is interesting, obviously it massively helps us if you click them, but zero pressure (there's images for everything as well so hopefully you don't need to click them anywhere). Right, lets crack on with the top 10:

So what do Kratos and Atreus do? They build your experience through God attacks or deaths and then draw you oodles of cards and distribute +1/+1s for each attack. This deck could go down proliferating plans, but I feel like thematically you want to lean into the Gods, so a top 10 of value changers:
a man and a boy are standing next to each other and the boy is holding a shield .

Tomorrow, we'll look at Jeskai Kratos and son (with a lot more depth than a top 4) but for now: what do you think of this Kratos? Will you be goading him off the Secret Lair website in 12 days? What will you building him with? Anything we missed or are wrong about?

1. Crawlspace (or Caverns of Despair if you can find one anywhere at all!): The price gradient look promising and there's a dwindling supply of this artifact that stops players attacking you with their newly hasted critters.

2. Total War: weirdly cheap for a 30 yr old, single-print card with such low supply. Ok, it’s not perfect, but if you’re locking them out of combat with arbiters then it fits perfectly -sweeping their (non-hastey) creatures when they can't attack. Thematic too!

3. Silent Arbiter: Lets Kratos punish everyone for their cowardly lack of attacks by ensuring very few creatures do ever attack. Hugging the ~$10 mark with limited reprints since its release 20 years ago and at home in many other decks.

4. Bothersome Quasit: just has 1 printing (BG) and not many copies left. It does something that’s fairly unique in magic and causes utter EDH chaos: forcing attacks against opponents AND preventing blocks - letting you really manipulate all the attacks.

Overview from the data journey: This might become a fan fave red commander for the political chaos but there’s just not many cards punish players for not attacking (happy to hear everything we missed tho!). From a #mtgfinance perspective the numbers just don’t look good outside top 4, so the top 4:

What’s Kratos do? He gives EVERYONE’S creatures haste (including opponents)! Then punishes them for not attacking. Feels like you can either revel in the political chaos of goading your opponents to attack each other or lean into limiting attacks and punish them for not attacking. Hard to do both?
