It feels good not to stress about it. For me, the writing's the thing. I know I write odd books that are an acquired taste, so if anyone reads it, that's a bonus! It means so much if someone takes the time to tell me what they thought, the thrill of that never wears off. Wishing all that for you!

YES!!!

I guess what I've learned from the previous books is how much is not in our control. There's no "best" way to send a book into the world, it will take on a life of its own, things will come up (I've been suprised to be invited to give 2 talks to CNF students!) & looking after yourself is vital!

My debut hybrid creative non-fic book came out in July, but actually it's my 10th book, and I'm immersed in the one I'm writing now, so I organised my own Zoom launch, which I loved - and that's all I did. In case you need permission *not* to do much, it's stressful enough just having the book out ☺️

Turns out it stopped play so I didn't miss anything - nothing can happen these days without a "signal", whatever that means! Probably VAR and communication with the ref.

PS No-one picked up on my social historical commentary re FA 1921 😉

Yes, i realised i could switch to Disney+ and can see play has actually stopped.
