Capcom did a very cool thing way back when officially publishing the free MM x SF game and it would be cool to see them pull a Sonic Mania and do something like that again

I think Mega Man has in some ways gone the way of Sonic where the official devs have the budget to give the game a nice coat of paint and do some flashy things but there are fans that understand what makes the games fun at a deeper level and can make games that surpass what the official devs can do

As someone who will never play league the game itself is fine but it seems exponentially better when you play with a full stack of your friends

It just seems way too easy to have a bad experience with randos once you reach a certain point

Additionally, in recent years it has become increasingly clear that Jon’s beliefs/priorities and mine are not aligned. He’s adversarial to people talking about privilege and representation, is dismissive of diversity efforts, has dabbled in covid trutherism, and is pro-MAGA.

I was disappointed to see the store page description put his name front and center while not mentioning any of the creators of the original games. This industry’s obsession with auteurs is not healthy.

That said, I hope the game will get a more nuanced label than “new Jon Blow game”. While the creative vision is his, he didn’t make any of the original games and there are a lot of talented people at Thekla who also deserve credit.
