i don’t think there’s coordinated malice, i think there is however a lot of very appealing content online that nurtures counterproductive modes of being that encourage dissonance and is reinforced by the fact that the establishment benefits from that division and disorganization.

last time, neighbor called the cops back to file a complaint against him. cops said his noise complaint wasn’t actionable bc there wasn’t any noise but that their complaint about harassment was bc he left them a weird creepy note & kept ringing their bell.

shame doesn’t work well like that, and i don’t really see leftists deploying shame so much as i see appeals to a more substantive engine powering their political machine. but i do see a lot of shame from the liberal space attacking leftists and conveniently misunderstanding pretty baseline stuff

in nyc all leaseholders are allowed 1 permanent guest. his roommate is also not on the lease, but a previous tenant is, and that roommate can be considered the permanent guest.

the only way that the intentional muddying of what leftists or activists are saying stops & becomes clarified is if those doing the muddying stop, and the only way they’ll stop is a) they are stopped/delegitimized or b) it becomes more profitable to clarify (co-option)
