I see it a lot with lionizing investors, as though managing a portfolio is arduous intellectual labour that completely justifies its returns as wages, and not, y'know, something that normal people would just pay an accountant of some sort to handle.

There is a natural human tendency - endemic in both the political right and political left - to equate "real work" with merit, and therefore to both insist that people who you don't want to pay *aren't* doing real work, and to insist that whatever *you're* doing obviously *is* real work.

Some people see kids bullying each other with rubber bands and think the solution is to ban rubber bands in schools. Same mindset.

I do appreciate how Polly and Lolly are just "here's how I meant to draw Edda", and Alistair is just "Amos, but with elephantitis of the face", and both of them dress like they were born before Hiroshima, not after 9/11. (Also... a garter? Is that a normal thing, day-to-day? In any decade?)
