It is, strictly and unequivocally, a poisonous technology designed to make the world smaller. Shred the oak timbers of past works and press it into particle board, so that no money need be surrendered to a carpenter to build that which the purser can't readily produce themselves. It is repugnant.

do you worry about aztec human sacrifices when you eat chocolate

do you worry about aushwitz when you have sauerkraut

do you worry about the indonesian genocide when you eat sambal

minor update: I looked into FF forks and installed waterfox. I've had absolutely zero issues with any of my extensions. a completely painless transition so far.

I only wish I did this a few years ago when FF started getting bad about privacy. enshitification can be rejected.

if I learn it's terrible, you'll hear about it here.

I just wish I'd looked into a fork sooner, but I assumed there'd be issues with extensions. And since I won't use a browser without noscript/ABP/ghostery and since youtube is truly unusable without yttweaks at this point, I didn't bother looking.

all migrated now, down to my Highly Specific widget arrangement.

0 complaints.

I did find where noscript's config is hiding, but went with a new one anyway.

I'll probably be dual wielding for a few weeks since I am *not* migrating both FF instances and their tabs manually, but will use WF mainly.

I just did that and I'm pleasantly surprised that I've had 0 issues with extensions.

pretty painless so far, surprisingly.

the only hurdle I've encountered is that I'm not really sure where waterfox is storing noscript settings vs firefox, so I may have to recreate that.

but that's not really a big deal and I had stuff 10+ years out of date in there anyway.

I've installed waterfox.

initial impressions are, uh, surprisingly positive.

all of my plugins appear to work. it appears to just be a question of migrating settings.

the only reason I did not do this years ago was because I assumed it was going to be a huge pain in the ass lol.

why are you people like this
November 23, 2025 at 12:29 AM
the fact that you hide it all in about:config proves god damn well you know nobody wants it, because if you surfaced the option to users, you know they'd opt-out.

might be worth thinking about why you've done that.

I'd advocated for FF for 20 years, but those days are long gone at this point lol.

hey, remember when firefox was the bleeding edge build of mozilla that excised all bloat in lieu of performance?

what in the actual fuck is wrong with you people? nobody asked for this. not a single person. you're a non-profit chasing a bubble because ???????
