It also opens the doors to further attempts to delegitimize connection to land, because it leads to definition of Indigenous nations at the genetic level, which then leads to the very tired arguments of "Actually, Native Americans are from Siberia, so they're immigrants too".

Not huge ones though, hence the adjective there. Back up cameras certainly do, and US car companies have used them as an excuse to make the SUVs and trucks bigger and bigger and bigger. We can't ignore that in the US. Do you at least agree that the size of SUVs trucks is a safety issue?

Of all of these - automatic breaking and seatbelt airbags are the obvious improvements. Cars shouldn't be big enough to have huge blindspots or need rear-view cameras.

And for the number of people that has saved in the car, it has made injuries and deaths outside of the car much more common. Car companies can say "we have blind spot detection and cameras, so we can make the car as huge as we want" increasingly lethality in collisions with pedestrians.

I won't debate 50 years ago. But, cars 15-20 years ago have most of the same safety features as today and were not as massively huge to be a danger to people outside of the car.

Cars today have a lot more fancy gadgets to distract people though!
