my tinfoil hat conspiracy is that the reason both the PRC and the US are locked in a process of dumping massive resources into AI tech, and why the PRC is specifically going about it in a kind of bubble-popping-economic-warfare way, is that AI isn't for anything advertised. it's for cyberweapons.
