The JIT Image Manipulation extension has been improved!
It now supports two additional image formats: BMP and #AVIF.

Compatibility has been enhanced by adding conditional imagedestroy() and unset() logic for #PHP7 and #PHP8 environments.

A first maintenance update — 2.84.1 — is scheduled for December 2.
It fixes issues with the initial workspace and improves JIT image support. Full changelog will be published on release day.

The first Sym8 release was... let's say ambitious 😅
Documentation, website, GitHub & Bluesky — all at once. A few small issues slipped through, not really my style.

The first patch is already underway and planned for December 2 — improving the initial workspace setup and JIT image handling.

Sym8 brings native HTML5 input types into the CMS core.
From color pickers to month & week selectors (🎨 📅 📆) — and even native browser validation for required, email, phone, and number fields.

Out of the box: better usability + accessibility.

🔍 Did you know? For years, #Symphony had a menu item for the internal Activity Log – but it was hidden.
In navigation.xml:

In #Sym8, this “hidden feature” is no longer a secret:
✅ The log is now directly accessible in the backend via the System menu.

Every fresh #Sym8 installation comes with the Dashboard extension — it’s not optional.

🖥️ The dashboard provides a system overview (Sym8 + PHP versions, sections, data sources, entries, …) and a live changelog feed directly from sym8.io.

Why Sym8 starts at version 2.84.0?

There is a clear logic behind the scheme:
• 2️⃣ → reflects the underlying Symphony codebase
• 8️⃣4️⃣ → maximum supported PHP version (8.4)
• 0️⃣ → patch level
