Happy to see you are really enjoying this one! One of my favorite reads.

So sorry to hear that Janet. We had to say goodbye to one of our cats earlier this year when KD also caught up with her. Happy she was with us for a long time and we miss her every day. I can see how Jack is at the end of his journey. Wishing you strength for this rough time.

Mujadara (Lentils, Rice & Caramelized Onions)

Easy, cheap, filling, comfort food. This recipe will yield at least 6 meals and delicious with any flat bread. Great both served hot and cold.

Lebanese Mujadara (Lentil Rice) by Zaatar and Zaytoun
Lentils and onions are best friends as demonstrated perfectly with this recipe; cumin toned lentil rice is lavished with heaps of onion

I think my first password was for my very corporate job way back when, shortly followed by my dial-up ISP service. It would fall in minutes on modern rigs; seconds for fast hashes. But it was considered 'strong' for many years.

I used to cook with the finger knuckle method and the rice was good. Then I got a cheap rice cooker, and the rice was good. The brown rice was a bit hit and miss. The bottom buckled a bit. Recently I got a fancy one, and it does everything perfect. It's set and forget and can do multi-grains. Happy.

Any variation using Flotsam and Home could work perhaps?
October 27, 2025 at 10:33 AM
'From Flotsam to Home'. From disposition to belonging. Flotsam is used for goods floating on the surface after a shipwreck, but also for discarded/unimportant things, and even for people that have been rejected by society. Finding Home is a counterpoint to it, and fits with your Safe Harbours theme.

Thank you so much for reading this essay Wil! It is such an important piece. I grew up after the war, but with stories of the war as told by my grandparents. I never imagined to see history repeating.

I took a sabatical year, packed up my things. Went to explore AU and ended up moving here.

I was so fortunate to go to a school in NL exploration was fostered. For reading, we had to propose a list of books, either by author, a genre, or topic. You had to discuss and defend your choices and then do book reports and presentations based on the approved list. This DIY book list worked.

If I could remove all sports I would be so happy.

Happy to see it got better! I can relate somewhat. I chopped chilies during dinner prep, and cleaned my contacts later that night. On inserting those the next day, I got a delayed chili burn. Took some time to overcome that. I wear glasses nowadays 🤣

This story has already made my day. I really enjoyed the long form telling and BlueSky's unintentional adding of suspense by not loading everything smoothly. Thank you for sharing!
